June 22nd, 2005 | Wahyudi

Maybe it is not about a new technology, some of them are just a new way on how to use the excisting technology. Internet and its use moved towards more to a social tool more than just email and far away from how comanpies always use internet. You probably hear the terms and name such as blog, wiki, flickr, rss, friendster, del.icio.us, podcasting, etc. The question is, are we ready for this? To start with this new terms i list some links which will bring you to a better understanding of what are those terms all about.

Google Web Alphabet

June 20th, 2005 | Wahyudi

If you just type in a letter into Google search field you can see what that letter for Google search means. Many of the number 1 in search result is displayed according the name in the NYSE, so F would be Ford Motor Company, G for Gillette and you want to know what does S for Google mean? not Siemens unfortunately or Sharapova, you won’t believe this, S stands for McDonald’s and i don’t know why.

Great Campbell !!

June 19th, 2005 | Wahyudi

It was this year second major championship after the Master. The Master final was definitely one of the best final i ever saw, the best was still the Master final from 1996 when my all time favorite golfer Nick Faldo won over Greg Norman, who entered the fouth round with a comfortable lead of 6 strokes. Last weekend in the final round of U.S. Open Championship it was a great moment for Michael Campbell, when he played costantly and maintained the lead he gained during the round agains … not just a golfer who made him self to the final round but it was Tiger Woods. Yes Tiger was coming from behind and sometimes it is the best situation from him, just remember how he catched Dimarco at this year Master championship. But Campbell was not distracted with what was happening in the other hole where Tiger was playing his game. In the interview after the round, Campbell said, he spoke to him self that he need to focus on his own game over and over again. He was quite right especially if someone like Tiger was catching him. So what about Retief Goosen, who had 3 strokes lead when the fourth round was started? He crashed from -3 to +8. How could that happen? well that is why i love this game.

Blog for the Mass

June 9th, 2005 | Wahyudi

It seemed that Blog culture has arrived at Siemens, and i’m happy for that. Visit the Blogger von Siemens which is managed by the Communication Department of Siemens Corporation in Iselin (please correct me if i’m wrong). Other than that and my workplace blog here i don’t know if there are any other blogs within Siemens. In his post , Stephan Meyer-Ewald ask other Siemens bloggers to communicate their blogs if they do have one. That would be great, because as a matter of fact blog in many cases offers us new way to communicate and improve the way how you publish or find solution for certain problem better than what web forums can do. This Post will give a brief tutorial on how to create your own blog.

So That We Really Know, What Our Company Knows

June 8th, 2005 | Wahyudi

“Wenn Siemens Wuesste Was Siemens Weiss” - Heinrich von Pierer. That should be the background of the Knowledge Management activity within Siemens. But sometimes it is difficult to find out what Siemens really know especially if you are looking for a something that actually already exists, it could be a solution, a documentation, tips, etc. Intranet should be the motor of the Knowledge Management , but we are overloaded with all what come from or shared on million of Intranet and still sometimes i don’t know what does the company know. Using search field i found on the intranet pages almost useless. A good friend of mine who sits in the other corner of the 4th floor was inflamed when we were talking about the search functionality within Intranet, he said “since i work here over a year, i never found what i’m looking for if i use that search engine”.
